Last night my small group was looking at John 8 where Jesus talks about people who are stumbling in the darkness. I asked my group to remember what is it was like to live in the darkness. They said things like this:
-They made up their own standards; they were the ultimate judge of right and wrong.
-They didn't see how ugly their sin was.
-They had a sense of despair because there was no higher power to turn to.
-They were enjoying their unchecked sin; for a time. Then they were caught in it.
-They felt spiritually adrift.
For you people who have surrendered your life to Jesus Christ, you may have forgotten. This is where many of the people you encounter reside. This is how they think. This is a snap shot of where they are spiritually. This is what you have to remember as you live, work, and interact with them. And never forget, that this is where you were at; before you walked into the light.
