Yesterday I got to attend a wedding vowel renewal for a couple in my church that has been married 60 years. It was a beautiful ceremony but not like many I'd seen before. These two people had over 40 years of dysfunction before they go to the 20 years of bliss. Battling through alcoholism and co-dependency was a long arduous path. They came to Christ as a Celebrate Recovery program in a little church called Saddleback; maybe you've heard of it. They actually were part of the first Celebrate Recovery program and have since sponsored over 150 people and helped others save their marriages. After 60 years of marriage they aren't as spry as they once were and the hair color has changed. Their kids aren't kids anymore. But their love for each other is going strong. Some might be tempted to say "what a shame" regarding the rough start to their marriage. But I propose that it's not how you start but how you finish. And they are finishing strong!
