I was thinking this morning of Matthew 7:13-14. Jesus said, “You can enter God’s Kingdom only through the narrow gate. The highway to hell is broad, and its gate is wide for the many who choose that way. But the gateway to life is very narrow and the road is difficult, and only a few ever find it."
It's not easy towing the line. It's not easy holding yourself to a higher standards when the people around you are not. It feels restrictive sometimes when you're trying to walk down the narrow path. But the narrow path leader us to through the Gateway of Life. It's a bit ironic when you think about it. The world says, "Don't give me a bunch of rules, I want to live my life!" Jesus says the exact opposite, "Living it up is the Highway to Hell" (which is also a cool AC/DC song for you 80's mullet rockers). The world says, "Life is a highway I want to ride it all night long". (which is also a cool song by Rascal Flatts) But Jesus says, "Real life, eternal life, is discovered off the beaten path."
It's hard to walk the narrow path but the pay off is huge!!! Don't lose heart.
