He Must Increase-Day 64

It catches me by surprise each year when the sun comes back around. Those dark days of winter can be truly dreary. You get up while it's dark. While your working the sky is gray and the rain just keeps coming. You get home and it's dark by dinner time. Sometimes it seems endless! But everyday in February there is two more minutes of sunshine. By the end of the month there is one full hour of additional sun (or rain as the case may be!). Then in march the cycle continues and pretty soon you're complaining about the sun waking up the birds that in turn wake me up!

How many times is our spiritual life like this? We go through some dark times. Sometimes the darkness seems all encompassing. It seems like those dark times will never end. But slowly, steadily, over time we come out of those dark times into the light. And the light is glorious! When you're in the darkest of times don't despair! Don't give up! Don't quit prematurely! The light is coming. Better days are ahead.

The LORD, the Mighty One, is God,
and he has spoken;
he has summoned all humanity
from where the sun rises to where it sets. (Ps 37:6)
